The Bible and Science – Cold/Hot

The Bible and Science – Cold/Hot

To each one of us, grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. Ephesians 4:7(NIV)

Cold or hot are sensations or feelings. I think when we say cold or hot our minds compare things to how we feel in air or water. Most of us will say solid water (ice) is cold (32°F) or hot is steam (gaseous water) at 212°F. The melting point of nitrogen is -345.82 °F and its boiling pointnitrogen is -320.44°F whereas iron melts at 2795.0°F and boils at 4982°F so trying to compare them with water really does not work well. (See Why Cold or Hot)

All too often, in Christianity, we compare people using the terms cold or hot – unfair. Not everyone is nitrogen but we all aren’t iron either; God knows when we are cold, hot, or lukewarm. God made us all different but we are still part of His Body. What He told us to do was love one another.

By the way, nitrogen is 78% of air and an important part of protein and iron is used for all cannon 1sort of building and structural components and is needed in your blood to carry oxygen.

∞Father, help us to love one another so that everyone will burn brightly for you.

The Bible and Science – Why Cold or Hot

The Bible and Science – Why Cold or Hot

Revelation 3:15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold and hoteither one or the other! (NIV)

I want to look at the idea of cold and hot from the aspect of food/germs. Hot food will actually kill germs while chilling food will not kill germs but at least make them inactive. But the “lukewarm” temperature in verse sixteen is just right for rapid growth of many germs that can harm a person. The temperature extremes of cold or hot will render unwanted organisms “safe.” The lukewarm condition will let all sorts of harmful things grow inside of you.

This is definitely a metaphorical example because the context is “deeds or work” that you are doing in your life. So, your deeds should be wholehearted or not at all but doing them halfheartedly will lead to problems.

∞ Father, may my works be done with a good attitude and directed for Your glory. Amen.

Syncretism or the Love of Jesus

God is love.  Jesus is love.  Unfortunately, postmodernism has changed the very concept of love especially the love that Jesus offers.  His love is defined in the Bible.  You loving Jesus is not necessarily a list or set of rules but it is not the ignoring of the Bible. Redefining terms to meet your unwillingness to follow Jesus is not love.  Jesus laid His life down at the request of the Father, can you/we lay ours down at His request?

What picture is your idea of love?

a nice concept that lets you do what you want to do?

Solomon, Rehoboam, and Jeroboam left a legacy of confusion and syncretism of the worship of Jehovah that sentenced Israel/Judah to separation from God and the Land.

The truth is Jesus died on the cross and came out of the tomb in victory over SIN.  He did all He did to show us that He is the Way and that our way will not work.

I believe that 2015 will be a time to Clean-up So We Can Celebrate.  Jesus still stands at the door of your heart and is knocking but letting Him in means your way goes to the Cross so you can join Him outside of the empty TOMB!

I think I got all of the credits but if not let me know and I will find it. They should also be attached to the picture.  I did take several of these.

The Bible and Science – Glucose

Matthew 28:19b In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

It is always fun to see a picture of the Trinity in Creation this one is in glucose the primary energy source for our bodies. Its chemical formula is C6H12O6 glucose

Carbon is the “backbone” of glucose and most other molecules that we need for living. It forms bonds by sharing electrons with other atoms. In its pure form it can be something common like graphite (pencil lead), lampblack, or something valuable like diamond. It has an atomic number of six (which is the number of man). Carbon would the model of the Father: stable, all about man, and holds things together.

Hydrogen is a very explosive gas and is the smallest of any atom. We are just starting to realize its potential as an energy source. Hydrogen would be a picture of the Holy Spirit; very powerful and a source of energy we need to use.

Oxygen is the gas in the air we need to live. It has an atomic number of eight (number of new beginning). Could anything be a better picture of Jesus? In Him we have a new beginning and is our very life if you are a believer.

As glucose these three elements form the molecule that we need to live. It is a quick energy source that we can use immediately.

∞ Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit thank you for working together for our good and being the source of our life.

Bible and Science-Yeast, A Model of Church Growth

Bible and Science-Yeast, A Model of Church Growth

Matthew 13:33 “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough.”(NIV)

To understand this passage we need to look at how yeast grows. Yeasts are eukaryotic and can divide by a process called budding. (Most cells divide into two even-sized cells.) In budding a small uneven sized pouch of cell material forms on the “mother cell.”yeastS_cerevisiae_under_DIC_microscopy In this pouch go all of the organelles and other chemicals that are needed for it to live; since it is eukaryotic DNA also goes into the bud. The mother cell has given the bud everything it needs to live on its own including the reproduction information – DNA. The bud may stay attached to the mother cell and actually start its own bud. (Under a microscope I have seen several of these all strung out from the mother cell.)

Churches may grow the same way. The church can send out a few people who are equipped with everything needed to start and grow a new church. (Personal Opinion: I see Hillsong Church growing in this method around the world.)
